Before discussing making disciples…
We need to check our perspectives on what our Christian faith consists of. We are born again believers who have accepted Jesus Christ. In accepting Him, we acknowledge our inability to fulfill the law and understand that we don’t have to because Christ already did. The law was never made to save us, it was only made to show us our depravity (Romans 5:20). Jesus alone saves us, once we humbly go before God and genuinely ask for His guidance, He guides us.
Understanding that it is His Spirit leading us, helps in focusing on what is important.
Galatians 2:20 ” I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
We all have different gifts and abilities and they were given to us to reach out to the world around us. They are for a specific purpose, either to benefit the body or to benefit the lost.
“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:”– 1 Corinthians 12:5-7
We each have a unique testimony that no one else has, which you can use to reach people no one else can reach. But we must understand that we are here to serve the way Jesus served. The way He reached out and willingly gave Himself away, we must similarly give our time away for the sake of expressing the saving knowledge that brought us out of darkness.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16
